Help! What crystal colors do I choose??
Lots of my brides are unsure what colors to choose for their toppers, and often ask me for advice. You want your topper to stand out on your cake, not to blend in!
Its a great idea to have your topper created in the accent colors of your cake. Say your cake is white, and you have pink and orange for flowers or decorative piping, you should choose colors that compliment the accents.
If you cake is dark, black, brown etc. I suggest just the clear crystals. They are similar diamonds and sparkle like mad!!
The clear crystals work well with any color on your cake, and are the most brilliant. If you just want and lot of BLING go for clear!!
What is the perfect size for my cake topper?
A typical cake top size if 6", although some can be anywhere from 4-8" even 10". A good rule of thumb is, whatever the cake top size is say 6", the topper should not be taller than 6". Many font styles are as wide as they are tall so you really need to be careful.
For 3 piece monogram cake toppers the perfect size would be, two 2.5" initials with a 4.5" last name inital. The height difference is enough so that you can distinquish the first name initials from the last. Unless your cake top is 8" or more you really should not go larger.
Monograms can also be placed on different tiers of your cake. You can have the last name initial on the top and the two first name initials on a lower tier. In this case you can choose other sizes. They can also run diagonally on each tier, which is fun :)
All in all, crystal cake topper give lots of sparkle and glitz to your wedding cake, and beat taditional bride and groom toppers by far!!
