Your wedding day is your time to shine and, once you’ve chosen your wedding dress, it’s time to choose your accessories, not forgetting your beautiful wedding jewellery. Choosing the right jewellery can be just as important as choosing the right shoes and dress as it is meant to complement your dress and cut, as well as your wedding hairstyle.
The right wedding jewellery can give your dress a truly personalised look and can really elevate your bridal appearance, so let’s take a look at some tips for how to choose your wedding jewellery!
The old saying “less is more” is especially true when it comes to choosing your wedding jewellery as the last thing you want to do is overdo your jewellery. You don’t want your jewellery to take attention away from your wedding dress and both should complement one another. Stick to one or two pieces of jewellery, combining earrings, necklaces or bracelets depending on the look you want to achieve.
When it comes to choosing wedding jewellery, it’s hard to know what material jewellery you should choose, whether it’s rose gold, platinum or silver. But, if the fabric of your wedding dress has an ivory tone, then wearing gold pieces can enhance the look of your dress, whilst if you have mocha or pink undertones on your dress, then sparkling diamonds or burnished silver can look beautiful.
The neckline of your dress is one of the most important features of your dress and is one that should be paid close attention to. If your dress is strapless or has a sweetheart neckline, then the right necklace can accentuate your neck beautifully. For high necklines, skip wearing a necklace and instead choose a beautiful pair of earrings or a stunning hair accessory.
This should be a rule for your whole bridal look, as too many colours can detract from your elegant look and may not blend well with your dress. Avoid wearing too many different gemstones or metals as this mix-match can take away from your overall appearance and can pull attention away from where it is most wanted - the dress! It is, of course, your wedding day and you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, but if you do want to emulate “classic” bridal couture, then stick to silver and diamonds for the day, then change into colourful jewellery for the evening.
If you’ve picked some beautiful contemporary jewellery pieces for your bridal look, then why waste them and keep them locked away in a jewellery box for years to come? Choose jewellery that you want to wear time and time again, whether it’s just for special occasions or to add a little glamour to a Monday work meeting outfit! Classic designs are always a good idea, but if you do want something a little more unique, then go for it!
