Planning a wedding can be done in a few weeks or as long as a few years. The question to ask yourself if you are considering a short planning time is what you're willing to be flexible on. There are definitely vendors out there who can help you. You may be limited to the locations to hold the ceremony and/or reception, but there is no reason why you cannot have an elegant wedding even if the time to prepare it is under a year.
Some pros to planning a wedding within a few weeks/months:
If the date is coming up quickly, its possible that you will get a discount or an added item/service for booking because it may otherwise not be booked at all for that venue/vendor.
Its likely, unless a significant amount of your guests are in the area you are getting married, that your guest count will be lower with shorter notice, which could benefit in cost-reduction.
Some things to consider:
With short notice, some guests may not be able to make the travel or childcare arranagments and may not be able to come.
Decisions will have to be made quickly and once they are made, they may not be able to be changed without financial penalty.
You'll need to meet with your vendors to discuss arrangements, so a work or childcare schedule could need adjustment.
No matter how long you have to plan your wedding, there are plenty of resources out there to help you!
Happy Planning!
