Holiday Engagements and as a bride/groom WHAT TO DO NEXT!

One of my favorite times of the day is when a bride or groom calls and announces that they have just become engaged! Suddenly I can forget the little concerns of the day and stop and CELEBRATE with the happy couple. Each time I get the call I have little fireworks going off in my head knowing that this is a very happy time to share with family and friends and to begin researching their choice of a great wedding planning/coordination company.

However, this can also be a time of stress as there are overwhelming amounts of information that are now shared on the internet about weddings, destinations and every detail of the wedding. Some brides are the "do it myself" type and for them to relinquish control to a wedding planner is extremely difficult. Others are "help me..I don't know where to begin or what to do next" and for those we like to be there for them every step of the way in offering suggestions and considerations of everything from A-Z based upon our experience.

Regardless of the type of assistance that you need, please allow me to offer just a few simple tips on what to do in the days after the engagement!

1) CELEBRATE the JOY! This is a very exciting time for you and before jumping full swing into planning I suggest that you savor these first few days/weeks of your engagement as you make the all important calls to family & friends. Tell them that you don't have specific details but just want to make them aware. The two of you together should plan who to tell when and how and keeping in mind that the two of you are going to be building a future together and you want those closest to you to also be informed and celebrate with you. Someone may want to host an engagement party for you or you may choose to just celebrate with close family or just the two of you. Regardless..it is a BIG deal so enjoy the moment!

2) RESEARCH AND HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER/COORDINATOR! We realize that there are many companies from which to choose and hopefully you will find THE planner/coordinator who fits your style, your PERSONALITY and offers the goods/services for the price that you can afford. At DOLPHIN DREAM WEDDINGS we work closely with every client to find out personal tastes, budgets and vision for their wedding. We can take as little as a $150 deposit to reserve your date and time for your ceremony.

3)WORK ALONGSIDE WITH YOUR PLANNER/COORDINATOR! A good wedding planner will listen to your wishes, give you quotes, recommendations for vendors and as we do at DOLPIN DREAM WEDDINGS we book all of your vendors for you so WE DO ALL THE WORK and you just help choose the details but don't have to make the phone calls to ask them the minute details. Other than some changing costs of services by vendors, we can give you some ball park figures about their costs and services they offer. Let us be stressed...not you!

4)SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY THE APPROACHING DAY THROUGH EMAILS, LINKS TO OUR WEBSITE OR A LINK TO OUR OWN PERSONAL WEBSITE OR BLOG! We can help them plan travel /accomodations through our preferred travel coordinators, book activities on land/sea as well as answer any questions that they might about their time to be spent on Maui. Imagine that we are your personal CONCIERGE for you AND your guests!
