The Fall means many things for a variety of people. For some it’s the spooky fun of Halloween. For others, it’s a time for pumpkin patches, hayrides, and bonfires. For the Hindu faith, the Fall brings the ”Festival of lights” or Diwali.

Those of us that do not follow the Hindu religion can think of this as somewhat of a Thanksgiving. Families come together to celebrate and give thanks, and there is tons of snacking! Religiously speaking, Diwali is the celebration of the triumph of light over darkness. During the five day celebration families light candles to symbolize the light of god and place them in their windows. This festival marks the beginning of a new year on the Hindu calendar and is a time to start fresh by cleaning ones home and office. One more feature of the festival is prayer towards the god of wealth and prosperity for the new year.

As part of the celebration children are given sparklers. Large fireworks displays are also scheduled. That’s our specialty! We wish all celebrating a Happy Diwali this year, and hope we can provide you with any celebration favors you desire.
