Trends in the wedding industry have clearly changed. What used to be a small quiet wedding ceremony has turned into this grand event that requires years of planning. Most brides and groom that I meet are not aware how just as fast as the Bridal industry has taken a 180 degree turn, so has the Groom industry. Taking the example today of Groom’s wedding cake, I am exploring a few essentials that are now seen at weddings.

Unique becomes Chic

It’s true. The more unique your wedding cake is, the more appreciation it is likely to receive. Grooms, let loose your imagination, but I advice not to take it too far. You still need to plan your cake with the bride so it doesn’t look awkward. Try to think ‘unique’ in terms of shapes, but not taste. Additionally, you’d want people to taste your cake, so make it look irresistible and fun for guests to take a slice!

Choco-Man

Trends may have changed, but preference isn’t. Chocolate still remains, as a part of old customs, the main flavor for Groom’s cakes. However, you can accent the flavor with just about any other. Strawberries remains a true companion for Groom’s Chocolate cake however, try to accent the color of your cake with that of the bride. Don’t make it look outrageously colorful because that’s going to appear very awkward standing next to the white tower (bride’s cake!).

Twirling Traditions

The tradition of serving two cakes at the wedding is taking a back turn slightly as now grooms prefer serving theirs at the Rehearsal Dinner. This let’s everyone have a piece of either and nobody has to choose or pick a favorite! You don’t have to worry about serving other form of dessert when you can serve your cake to the guests (even though it’s a day before!).

Sleek and Studly Sweet

Too much sweet may not be tempting to men, so what you can do is keep the flavor a little less sweet. Now that you are having two cakes why not make them stand out on their own! The groom’s cake need to look sleek and studly, reflecting the groom’s nature and the brides, glamorous!
