As you begin the process of finalizing the details of your wedding, one of the items you need to think about is the wedding invitation wording. After selecting the perfect wedding invitation cards for your big day, you need to find the wording that best suits your situation. Below are several examples of wedding invitation ideas and helpful hints to find the words that make your invitation special.
There are many different variations of the wording for wedding invitation cards. Some factors that change the words slightly are who hosts the wedding, if your wedding is formal or informal and your personal preferences. If the bride's parents are hosting the event, their names would appear on the wedding invitation first. An example is:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter....
However, if the bride and groom's parents are co-hosting the wedding, then the wording on the invitation would be slightly different. It would read:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
and
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jones
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of
Anna Leigh Smith
to
Daniel Steven Jones....
As a general rule of thumb, the wedding invitation wording should include the following information: the names of the hosts of the wedding; the names of the bride and groom; a request for guests to attend; the date, time and location of the wedding.
