Grab a Prop and Smile for the Booth!

Say cheese!  Let’s talk about photo booths!  Photo booths are more than just the strip of mini pics you used to get at the mall.  Nowadays, photo booths are a popular entertainment feature at parties, receptions, and other events.

Having a photo booth at your event lets your guests have a little fun of their own with the camera instead of just relying just on the photographer.  For less formal events, it is a way to capture an event without hiring a photographer.  However, if your event does require a photographer, like a wedding reception, several photography companies also offer photo booth services.  Getting the photo booth from your photographer will usually be more cost efficient than hiring both separately.

One of the funnest things about photo booths are the props! Most photo booth companies will provide various props for you to pose with in the booth.   Props may include mustaches, funny hats, glasses, masks, etc.  One of the more creative props I’ve found is a dry erase board.   You may be wondering, “Why a dry erase board?”  Having this prop allows you to have a interactive guest book.  Guests can write you a happy birthday or congratulations message on the board which can make looking at your photos fun and exciting.  Another benefit to the photo booth is that everyone gets a little silly whenever those pictures are taken.  It gives you some impromptu, fun, candid shots of your guests having a good time.

There are several other benefits to having a photo booth at your event.   For something like a corporate event, school dance, etc., the photos can be used as a souvenir for your guests.   At a wedding reception, you can use the photo booth as a guest book.  In addition to having them sign the traditional guest book, request that they stop by the photo booth before they leave.  Lastly, it provides additional entertainment.  You may already have a band, DJ, or other entertainer hired for the evening, but the photo booth gives your guests an opportunity to entertain themselves!
