Fall Weddings - The Fall Wedding Elements You Can Skip

Fall officially started last Saturday as you may know by now.  If you didn’t know, I’m sure you felt the temperature drop right on cue.  When fall begins you automatically see many blogs and magazines providing you with inspiration for your fall wedding.  I am not here to add to that list today because they are doing a great job at this.  I’ve seen so many things I love out there.  I am here to tell you the things you don’t have to do for your wedding just because it is fall.

Whenever I meet a new couple I always get questions starting with “do we have to”.   Do we have to do this, do we have to do that and my answer is usually you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.  I’m a firm believer in wedding etiquette and traditions but I don’t believe there is a blue print for every wedding.  So that leads to me to my list of “Just because you are having a fall wedding doesn't mean you have to……

1)    You don’t have to have leaves, pumpkins, apples, squash or anything of the sort as part of your wedding day décor.  If you love that then by all means do it but don’t feel obligated to incorporate these elements into your wedding day decor.  They are lovely additions but if it is not you then skip the fall favorites and go with what you love.

2)    You don’t have to use traditional fall colors like yellow, orange and brown.  If you've never liked these colors, then don’t start now.  Do you really want your wedding décor to be focused on a color you don’t like? I don’t think you do.  Go with your favorite color and fine the right shade for the season.

3)    You don’t have to have a fall theme menu for your cocktail hour and reception.  Serving apple cider and pumpkin spice dishes is not required.  Your guests will be happy with the “wedding” foods they know like mini crab cakes.  They are probably looking forward to it.

4)    You don’t have to have a rustic, barn or vintage style wedding.  I don’t know what it is about fall that brings this out of brides but it doesn’t have to be you if you don’t want it to be.  Those wedding are beautiful but if it is not you it won’t be beautiful in your eyes.  If you are a glam-a-pus and love all things fabulous then be that bride through and through.

If you love the fall and those wonderful elements then by all means please use all these elements in your wedding.  This is for the brides that are having fall weddings but don’t really wish to have a fall theme wedding.  If you were wondering if you had to have it then let me tell you, no you don’t.  It is your fall wedding so do as you please.
