We are working hard to get our unique shop open by May! We have found funds are extremely, well for us, impossible to obtain, as we are a new, start-up business. I have sold items on ebay for over 11 years as a hobby and that is where I developed my love for all things bridal.
Yesterday, my husband picked up this magazine called, "Entrepreneur". All of us need to be reading this as it has many good ideas, as I am guessing many of you are entrepreneurs as are we! Having enoough capital seems to always be an issue. We have hundreds of thousands of dollars in inventory in the highest end designer gowns and other items. We are inventory ready to open our store! We have a fabulous location that we are going to be leasing that is going to need money for a build out to make it handicapped accessible, to add fitting rooms and to create our designers club, so we are not talking huge sums of money. And then we need some money for operational capital. We are locating in the old part of town and the city is working hard to get us to bring our business to this location as they see it as a perfit for the development of the area.
So, getting back to the magazine: in it it refers to a couple sites that I was not aware of called: Kickstarter and IndiGoGo as sites where people like us can go and potentially net some real money! Wow! I had 2 thoughts: 1: I am going to check this out and 2: why don't we as a bridal community create something similar? What they were saying is that they share their ideas and people who find their busiiness to be ones they want to support, they send $5.00, $10.00 or sometimes larger sums but when many people sent money it addded up to a great deal of money!
It sure beats selling candy bars!!!
I think it would be a great idea if we as a bridal community considered creating something like this for entreprenurs in the bridal field. I know when we get established I would love to help someone else and if I could do so by contributing a few dollars I would!!
We all need leg up people in our lives and this is just a hug up!
