Emergency Wedding Travel Mishaps to Prepare For

Traveling to a wedding can be one of the most exciting trips you take. After all, you can make the trip itself fun. Unfortunately, traveling to a wedding doesn’t always go as smoothly as you’d hoped. If you know the types of mishaps to expect, though, you’ll be better able to prepare for them so that you can still make it to the wedding on time.

Missed Flight Connection

If you’re flying to the wedding, your ability to arrive on time is entirely in the hands of the airline you’re flying with. If you should miss a connection, the good news is that you’re not out of options. You can prepare in advance by researching a few alternate connection options so that you’ll know right where to go to be able to try and get re-booked. It’s also a good idea to avoid late flights, as missing one of these connections could leave you without any other options.

Car Accident

Car accidents can occur even when you’re on your way to a joyous event. As long as your car is drivable, you may want to continue to your destination so that you arrive on time. Before you leave your home, you can research to see if there are any auto body repair shops in the town where the wedding is happening so that you can quickly contact them to repair any damage.

Run Out of Gas

In all the excitement to get to the wedding, you may forget to pay attention to your gas gauge. If you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere, you could be in for a long wait. That’s why it’s a good idea to pack an empty gas can in your trunk so that you can fill-up at the nearest gas station to get yourself out of this difficult situation.

Bad Hotel

As good as some hotels look online, the reality once you arrive at the hotel can be quite different. If you decide that you can’t stand a night at the hotel you’ve chosen, it’s helpful if you already have a backup plan in place. You can use a travel booking site to research alternative options for different hotels in that city and nearby cities. This will ensure that you can quickly call around to find a hotel that has a vacancy.

Great Stories

Although wedding travel mishaps can be stressful in the moment, it’s important to keep them in perspective. Once you’ve gotten everything squared away, you will have a humorous and memorable story to tell the other wedding guests. While travel is best when it’s smooth, there’s something to be said for making unique memories in the midst of mishaps.
