Speaking with some brides-to-be this week who are all within 8 weeks of their wedding we share a common fear. The "what have I forgotten" fear and that's understandable.
Since our engagements we have been planning, arranging, rearranging, designing and redesigning, crying, laughing, sweating, budgeting and just about any other "ing" you can add to a verb. A wedding is a lot of work! So excuse our neurosis if a few weeks before the wedding we go into mass panic.
It's completely normal for a couple to worry about what they haven't done before a wedding, and it's my pleasure to tell you not to.
Let's put this first into perspective in the worst case scenario. You have forgotten something. Take a deep breathe and ask yourself this question "Is it THAT important?" I mean, if it wasn't first and foremost in your mind from day 1 of your wedding planning... is it really going to ruin your perfect day not to have it?
Say, you do need it. Say it now has become the be-all and end-all of your dream wedding, now that you know you have forgotten it. Well, it's simple. Get it done. Quick.
Nothing ever got done by crying or worrying (I sound like my mother now) but the best fix is to put heads together and come up with the solution.
Ask yourself
- What do we need/want?
- Who can help me?
- How much will it cost?
The closer it gets to the actual wedding, the more willing and able bodies you will have around you, desperate to be of use. Use them to fix your forgetfulness.
You may forget little things before the big day, just make sure you remember all that matters is getting married to the person you love.
