During wedding planning, it's a common joke that Dads are just there to write the checks. While it is funny. Many, many brides are "daddy's girls" and for a Dad a wedding can be very emotional.
Throughout their daughter's lives the Daddy is always there to protect and take care of his little girl. Now he has to hand over that responsibility to another man. It's hard to Daddy to walk his daughter down the aisle and hand her over. He remembers the ballet recitals, tea parties, dress up, teaching her to drive, her first date, taking her to college and having to leave her there. He remembers the nights waiting up for her to get home, but preteding he wasn't really waiting. He remembers the awkward years with braces and then all of the sudden his little girl grows up and is beautiful.
So remember on your wedding day, that your Daddy is just as emotional as you are...even though it may be hard to for him to show it. Make sure you spend some extra quality time with Dad during the wedding planning process. It will mean the world to him.
Happy Father's Day to the Dads out there.
