As destination weddings increase in popularity, with nearly 25% of engaged couples opting to have a wedding away, the reason couples choose a destination wedding is changing as well as the expectation of the experience. Gone are the days that a bride and groom decide on a wedding away because it is simpler, more cost effective and stress free.

While all these attributes can still apply, a huge trend is occurring in the industry where couples have a large guest list and want a traditional wedding with all the bells and whistles, but at their desired destination. 

As a result of this, resorts are offering personalized customization, more choices by outsourcing to local vendors for entertainment, design and décor, plus offering the opportunity for brides and grooms to come and try before they buy.

 However, the shortfall is in the discovery or research phase. Couples want a location that fits their vision and accommodates their large group, so they are searching endlessly online and ultimately getting frustrated and overwhelmed, not knowing where to go and who to trust for honest answers.  This problem will inevitably require more Destination Wedding Professionals to be available - those who really know the industry, what is available to meet the needs of each individual couple – to assist them with planning their customized destination wedding that goes beyond their expectations.
