Bride Maiden Last Name Change For Washington State - January 14, 2011 - "I am marrying outside of the United States, do I need to let the Washington state government know about my marriage?"
The marriage license issuing bureau of Kings County suggests the following, when discussing marriage outside the United States or in a state other than Washington state:
"Obtaining certified copies of the permanent marriage record, including certified translation into English, if necessary, will prove that you were lawfully married in that location. You can, but are not required to, record that document, as a safeguard against loss, with King County Recorder."
What About Other Washington State Counties
If the bride is not a resident of Kings County, then to submit a safeguard "certified" record of her destination marriage would be a good suggestion. Additional "certified" records should also be kept on hand by the bride personally, also for name change and future use.
Just think, if we know this detail about the King's County suggestion for the destination bride and groom, how much we know about the rest of bride maiden name change!
