Thanks to last nights episode of
Masterchef I am now officially in love with the
Croquembouche
This French pastry delight is an amazing culinary masterpiece and an architectural nightmare. Needless to say it would be an impressive addition to your wedding feast.
I am actually going to attempt this dish as a Christmas challenge (and dare from my husband) so I will blog about this later in the year.
The dessert is a selection of choux buns (profiteroles) filled with cream , piled high in a pyramid and held together by caramel.
Croquembouche literally translates to "Crack in the mouth" from the fabulous sounds of the crunch of the caramel as you bite in.
The flabours and appearance of the Croquembouche can be as varied as you like from chocolate flavoured buns to using berries and spun sugar to coate and decorate.
Be warned! One bun may not be enough for each guest - especially when they taste this good and this is not for the budget conscious couple.
A croquembouche depending on where you buy from can set you back anything from $1,000 upwards depending on the style and effort of putting it all together.
