Combining Fashion with Function in Wedding Favors

The original wedding favor was a slice of wedding cake presented in a box or piece of cloth. While this is a nice gesture, it is also a little boring. Today, couples are leaning toward much more interesting—and much more useful—tokens for their wedding guests. The favor that is offered at a wedding is a way for the bride and groom to express their appreciation for their guests sharing their special day and the offering of a memento that will help them to enjoy memories of the celebration for years to come. If you want to make more of an impression with your wedding favors than just a cardboard box filled with candy or a wallet-sized copy of your engagement picture, consider some of these options for impactful, beautiful wedding favors that your guests will love long after they leave your wedding:

Baby Trees

If you and your partner are avid environmentalists or just want to offer your guests something that will make you feel as though you are doing your part to help protect the world around us, consider offering a live seedling. Wrapped lovingly in burlap with a ribbon to match your wedding colors, these trees are planted in honor of your wedding and will remind your guests of you each time that they see it. For added practicality, attach a themed letter opener that your guests can use to open their mail and then recycle the paper.

Milk and Cookies

Who doesn’t love milk and cookies? To add a fun twist to the giving of favors, at the end of the night present each guest with an engraved shot glass of milk and a delectable cookie and invite him to bring the glass home as a memento of the evening. For more robust appetites, choose a tumbler glass and give each with a beautiful pouch of cookies tucked inside.

Trinket Boxes

Trinket boxes are the perfect favor to offer guests so that they will think of you every day. Available in a wide variety of themes from simple flowers to elaborate fairy tale coaches, these trinket boxes are also a great opportunity for you to hand write a note to each guest, either personalized or the same for each guest, and tuck it inside so there is an added surprise when the guests get home and use their box for the first time. Brides on a budget may even offer one of the boxes to each couple rather than one to each guest.
