Choosing The Perfect Wedding Guest Outfit

White definitely is not an option and you seem to recall wearing the shoulder-lace one to a previous cocktail dinner. It would be a big no-no showing up dressed in the same manner on every formal event. And isn’t that a perfect excuse to go some window shopping? While you are there you just might throw in a new pair of heels and a statement necklace – an outfit cannot be complete without the right type of accessories. So let’s get started:

Tis The Season

Before you start your shopping spree you should probably consider the weather conditions first. This is the factor that could actually determine your whole outfit. While a knee-length floral motif dress or a light pastel maxi are the perfect choice for spring weddings, you might have a bit trouble finding your perfect choice for those winter wonderland ceremonies. Winter weddings call for necessary wedding jackets while berry hues and bold prints work majestically for these colder seasons.

Colour Is Key

While most of you are acquainted with the strictly no white rule when it comes to wedding days, it is a good idea to mention that cream, ivory and eggshell are also out of the question. But other than these two obvious ones, there are other options that wedding guests should try to avoid. For instance, it would be a good idea to refrain from the colours that the bridesmaids are wearing. Also anything too flashy or distracting can be a true eyesore. There are much safer options like pink, burgundy or turquoise but you can never go wrong with a navy blue or a little black dress.

Comfort Is Crucial

We have all heard about that old beauty is pain, but do not get too wrapped around in expressions. Remember, wearing comfortable formal attire is not a myth and you should always search for garments that fit your body type and do not cause any discomfort. This rule especially applies to shoes, as you are going to spend a lot of time on your feet. While it is everybody’s goal to look their best, do not make the mistake of missing half of the celebration because your feet are too sore. If you have a difficult time finding the appropriate heels that fit, you can always opt for flats which are a much comfier and safer option.

Balance

Last but certainly not least – try to balance your appearance. Most people believe that it is much better to be overdressed rather than underdressed at weddings. While this is true in some cases, it is really important not to outshine the bride. So think moderately and do not overdo it. Nowadays, with the use of internet, you can easily find and buy dresses online without much hassle or effort. And remember, if you purchase a not-so-formal dress, you can always wear it for some other occasion as well.

A wedding invitation is a great honour and the least you can do is glam up a bit. Of course there are always some rules to be followed and if you wish to make a wonderful impression, without stealing the complete show, these few tips will help you get by.
