In this post, we are going to look at ways to save money on cakes.

CAKES

While there are many fabulous bakers who create fabulous cakes in amazing flavors that are beautiful, it can be hard to justify the $5 and up price per serving.

There are a few different options for saving money on cakes, from bare bones budget to budget conscious.

If you are bare bones budget:

Enlist a friend and ask around for someone who does cakes on the side. Also, look on Craigslist for someone who does specialty cakes. Be sure to ask lots of questions and to see photos of previous work.
Pros - Can get a nice cake for a low price

Cons - Reliability and quality may be a factor. Have a taste testing. May not be able to get an intricate style or design

Limited funds:
Look at the cakes at Walmart. Most supercenters offer wedding cakes in the bakery.
Pros - You can get a cake for 100+ for less than $1
50 (depending on location. prices vary)
Cons - Not many options in flavors, icing or styles

Need to cut costs:
Get a small two tier cake for a baker. Have it decorated in any style you like. Then order multiple sheet cakes in different flavors. The sheet c
akes can be pre-cut and served on trays.
Pros - The different flavors can eliminate the need for both a bride and grooms cake
Cons - Serving the cake on trays may reduce elegance. Also you may need to order slightly more if doing 2 or 3 flavors

Faux Elegant:
Go to Publix and talk with the bakery. You can preview some of their style on their website. They cost @$250+ for a cake.
Pros - Options in flavors, icing, styles and shapes
Cons - Not as many options as a high end bakery
