Brussels in Bloom

The annual Carpet of Flowers celebration in Grand Place, Brussels is held on August 10th, 2010. The celebration started in 1971 and was originally designed to promote the sale of gardenia flowers. It is quite amazing that the Carpet of Flowers craftsmen are able to arrange nearly 3 million flowers while managing to keep the flowers looking fresh. The layout is based on a medieval carpet design and we think that this should be considered one of the man-made wonders of the world!
