Even though wedding is about the bride and the groom, bridesmaids will tend to be on the bride’s territory, so choosing a style for them may look like a tough decision. You surely do not want to end up having four dresses which are not flattering to their owners. If you do not want to turn choosing bridesmaid dresses into a nightmare, there are things you should take into consideration when choosing them for your big day.

Style

The most important thing is to match the style with the body type because if you choose the same style for a tall and lean and for a petite bridesmaid, they will end up looking unattractive. If you still want to them to have the same dresses, it would be best if you chose a style which looks flattering to most body types, such as A-line dresses. High and lean girls look best in them especially if they add waist belt which will accentuate it properly. Curvy bodies look best in Empire style dresses because they create the effect of a lean and glamorous look. If your bridesmaid is petite, then look for fitted dresses that have a V-neck, which will elongate the figure. A full figure will look less puffy if you accentuate its smallest part, like Empire dresses.

Material
There are a number of materials which you can choose, like chiffon, georgette, voile, cady, satin, jersey, and the like. Chiffon is lightweight and can be an ideal choice if you do not want the dress to cling to the body, and is perfect for multiple layer styles with draping effect. Georgette is similar to chiffon but is a bit heavier. Voile has the same characteristics as the two mentioned before, but is better for full or A-line skirts since it has a bit more structure. Cady is structured and stretchy, so it holds shape well, and is smooth and casual. Satin is soft and smooth, lightweight and it drapes with the body, however its downside is that it shows sweat easily. Jersey is a stretchy fabric with a matte finish, and is soft and bouncy. There are many more materials to choose from so if you cannot make a decision have your bridesmaids give their opinions. An easy fix is to send your bridesmaids to a bridal store and have them pick out a style that looks good on them but you choose the material and the colour she to match your wedding.

Accessories
Accessories are best if cut to minimum, because not every style of dress will look good with any accessory. For example, strapless dresses are good with almost any jewellery. On the other hand, in V-neck dresses you should use the minimalist approach. Big colourful baubles will look stunning on a high neckline dress, whereas in some styles, like one shoulder dresses a necklace can look distracting so it would be best to choose chandelier earrings.

And finally, it would be best if you sit with your bridesmaids (or appoint your most responsible bridesmaid, the maid of honour), and talk to each one, hear their word and make notes about their wishes and try to come to a reasonable solution.

The tips in the post are valuable. It is very necessary to dress up according to body shape.  At the time of my wedding, I wore a long white colour dion lee dress, as it was designed according to my personality. The other important thing is about the accessories we choose, it should be according to our dress.
