As an event planner,I see trends come and go all the time. But what i believe in the most,is that whatever makes you happy go for it! Creativity is never out of style! So what if you have been to a hundreds weddings with a cupcake station. All the personal touches you make, will make it new and fresh in a way you couldn’t imagine. Your event should be a continued expression of who you and your groom are and what you love! When you start worrying about trends and being more stylized than creative you are surely heading down a slippery slope. Following trends not only add to the stress factor,but it's almost always going to increase budget if not done correctly. This your day and nobody else’s so put your fingerprints all over it!
3 Questions To Ask Yourself When Following A "Trend"
1. Why Do I Like This Trend?
If the sole reason is because you saw it in the latest Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine, or because you are being pressured into doing it,I say let it go!
2.Is It Going To Help or Hurt My Budget?
There are a lot of trends out there that are easy and affordable or have easy and affordable options. But following a trend such as hanging chandeliers at your reception are sure to put a squeeze on your budget?
3.How Does The Groom Feel ABout It?
Yes,I know sometimes brides forget that it's the grooms day too! How does he feel about it? You wouldn't want something as a here now gone tomorrow trend to place any tension between you and your grooom.
