Weddings are lighthearted, beautiful occasions, where everyone wants to look and feel their best, surrounded by something beautiful. Especially if you are hosting a bohemian wedding, you want as much connection with nature as you can, and what better way to do that than to fill your wedding with nature’s best: flowers. But why stick just to the bouquet that will be in the bride’s hands? Flowers can be incorporated into so many details, and you can watch your venue, guests and yourself come to life, decorated with beautiful blossoms. So, let’s see what are all the ways you can incorporate flowers into your big day:
The venue
Flowers are nature’s own decorators, and they can be yours as well. Make arrangements for the table centerpieces, making sure they are at short enough so that people can see across the table over them, or tall and placed in a thin or transparent vase, so that people can look through them. You can place a small bouquet on the back of every chair to add some color, and even have hanging arrangements on the walls or from the ceilings. Fresh flower wreaths are a beautiful way to decorate the door to the venue, and small flower pots can mark the pathway to the door so your guests don’t get lost.
The outfits
The bouquet is an extremely eye-catching part of the bride’s outfit, but it’s not the only way flowers can be incorporated. Instead of a veil, why not have a flower crown on your head, as well as all of your bridesmaids? Or a beautiful fresh flower corsage around your wrists? And the flowers aren’t reserved just for the ladies: they can be a great detail on the suit for the groomsmen, or you can take it to the highest level and give them beautiful, stylish flower beards. And if you think you can’t have flowers near you because of an allergy, or the fear of attracting bees in an outdoor wedding, there is always the option of using beautiful silk flowers which you can have arranged well in advance and keep to remind you of your wedding.
The events
Flowers can be a lot more than just static decoration. They are used in a lot of ceremonies, and you can incorporate them in your wedding too. A traditional way is to have a flower girl who will throw petals in front of the bride as she walks down the aisle. Another option is to supply guests with small bags full of petals and have them throw the petals at the newlyweds as they are walking out. You can also have petals raining from the ceiling during your first dance – just be careful not to slip!
The food
Now there’s just one place left to incorporate flowers, and that’s the food and drinks. Edible flowers are becoming more and more popular, and they will definitely add glamour to your party. You can ask your caterers to freeze petals and small buds in the ice cubes, so that when you pour the drinks over it, you will get a glass of floating flowers. You can also use edible flowers as garnish in dishes, salads and, of course, the cake. Your wedding cake can be covered in fondant or sugar paste flowers, but the real magic will happen if you put real flowers as decoration, and if you ask your pastry chef about it, they will be able to tell you all the options you have for that.
Having flowers as wedding decoration will not only give you a feeling of connection to nature, but it is a beautiful way to add life and color to the event. You can designate a flower which will be the centerpiece of all bouquets and build around it, or simply have a theme color and pick flowers that match. Having a room full of fresh flowers will also create a wonderful scent, and if you are giving out party favors, you can make small pouches with dried flowers, embroidered with the date of the wedding, so that your guests have a scented memory of the day.
