Everyone knows that the key to having flawless makeup, begins with having great skin!!
How do we achieve and maintain great skin? Thats one question we ask throughout our lifetime especially if our skin is problematic.
Francois Nars is absoluetly right in saying, ‘what we feed our skin should mirror what we feed our bodies’. This means vitamins, antioxidants and most importantly WATER, should reflect on our skin!
OK! So….what are some of the ingredients to achieve great skin? Some of the best ingredients known are the following : healthy foods, daily vitamin intake, WATER, good serving of sleep, exorcise and some good ol’ sex!! Joan Crawford once said ‘i need sex for a clear complexion….but id rather do it for love’ Ha…imagine if the only way to have great skin was to have sex?
Eating food thats right for the body like low fat dairy products: because low fat dairy foods contain Vitamin A; berries and plums: for antioxidant purposes that protects the skin from free radicals and lessens the signs of aging; salmon, walnuts, flax seed and canola oil: for essential fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6. These products are great for achieving healthy skin; healthy oils: those labeled expellar processed, cold pressed and extra virgin are the ones to go for; whole wheat bread, muffins, cereal, turkey tuna and brazil nuts: selenium plays a great role in the health of skin cells, and these foods has the right amount of it! and my favorite…water: water hydrates our skin cells plus help to move nutrients in and toxins out! I’ve heard that ‘hard water’ is good for the skin because it contains nutrients and minerals excellent for the body and skin that softened water doesn’t have; sleep: when we don’t get enough sleep we reduce the build back time of our skin… that time it takes while we sleep to rebuild and rejuvenate! lack of sleep results in dark circles and skin looking dull: exorcise: putting a good work out in boosts detoxification and cell renewal: sex: reduces stress, boosts immunity, burns calories, improves cardiovascular health, boosts self esteem, improves intimacy, reduces pain, strengthens pelvic floor muscles and helps you sleep better. No need for me to say more but if only it came in a juice box! lol
As women, its so important to us and for us to protect our skin! We all know the changes our skin undergo as we age. If we start now and continue to take extra care of our skin as we age, our husbands and boyfriends wont be leaving us for younger prettier girls (gotta keep the nookie tight too eh) and cougars will look like kittens and not like grandmas hijacking the younger male species! As makeup artist, i’ve come across so many different skin types! Not just in color…but in texture or ‘terrain’ lol… balance, appearance, and pore size too. Not everyone is lucky to have flawless skin that requires no or little effort to maintain and I seriously envy those bishes!! And for the rest its creams, solutions, powders, masks and the list can go on and on. An endless log of skin care products that will make you or make you go broke!
So begin today! bring your skin back to life, by getting back to the basics! Cuz the reality of the situation is this: 90% of them girls in magazines DONT naturally have flawless skin..its all surgery by photoshop, airbrushed by the pointer to perfection.
Im gonna go do my weekly banana mask!
Peace.
