Autumn Bow Bridge Central Park Wedding

This lovely Australian couple, Carly and Sean, met at High School although they did not begin seeing each other exclusively until almost eight years ago. Sean had proposed one night when they were both in their pyjamas about to go to bed. Carly started to head towards the stairs and Sean had placed the ring box in her path.

Carly and Sean had given only brief consideration to a traditional wedding, they were quite sure that wasn't for them, they wanted their ceremony to be just the two of them. Sean was keen to get married in Las Vegas, but Carly said “as a dreamer and romantic I felt a Central Park wedding would make a picturesque and harmonic backdrop for our memories and start to our union.” She had always wanted to visit New York and Sean agreed to her wish to marry in the more romantic location.

They had worried a little about the weather, as anyone does when having an outdoor wedding. Luckily for them, they got married ten days before Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, and they were honeymooning over on the West coast by the time the storm hit.

They said one drawback to a destination wedding was the difficulties of packing everything they needed for the wedding. Carly had an ivory dress, jewelled around the bust, “kind of a Grecian look”, she says. “I am not very hasty with heels so I gave myself more mobility with flats, I found a nice pair to go with the dress.” and she said she was pleased that she had made this decision to make the walk around the Park easier on herself. They did plenty of walking around the Park for photos. Carly chose a bouquet of beautiful orange gerberas, which look perfect on this lovely sunny Fall day. Carly did her own makeup and her hair was done by the Guy Thomas Salon. She said that they were “great and had a high attention to detail.”

They stayed at The London NYC hotel, and they were very happy with the location, spacious room and pleasant staff. The hotel is four blocks from Central Park and a ten minute drive in the hotel's courtesy car to the West 72nd entrance to the park, which was the closest entrance to Bow Bridge where their ceremony took place. Carly said “Bow Bridge is a very romantic place but also very busy so you cannot get the bridge to yourself. Most of the the passers-by are very nice and congratulating”. After the ceremony and all that walking around Central Park, Carly and Sean returned to their hotel, where they had sent up champagne and chocolate. After a little while of relaxation they headed out again, to Red Lobster at Times Square, and Carly tried Lobster for the first time.

Carly said that she had very few worries about marrying Central Park because “luckily I had a great wedding planner who would get back to me very promptly and answer all the questions that I had”. That would be yours truly, from Wed in Central Park.
