Attention all Families.......It's THEIR day!!!

When we get engaged and start planning a wedding...it truly helps to have a strong, wonderful, motivated, and loving family to help you with details and making your wedding day the best day of your life.

HOWEVER...it can sometimes turn into a frightening nightmare of 'I have to please this person' or 'I have to do this because my aunt will get hurt' or 'I have to have my cousin in the wedding party or no one will ever talk to me again'....this is absolutely CRAZY!!! When does a wedding day become about your entire family and not about the couple that is making the life-long commitment. Family is crucial, but let's not forget who's day this TRULY is!

And so.... I send this very considerate and understanding note to all families out there who are 'helping' an engaged couple with their wedding.......This is not YOUR wedding you are helping to make happen...it's THEIRS!!!

I know that you are doing this out of 'love' and family commitment...BUT...if you give yourself to helping the couple with their wedding and reception plans, you have got to take your own personal feelings out of it and realize that this is for the engaged couple...it's their wedding...their dreams...their plan...what THEY want!

And...to engaged couples everywhere.....Watch out for 'family' help when planning your wedding...if it does not come without any strings...if it does not come with complete selflessness on the family's part....if it does not come with a total understanding that you are the future Mr. and Mrs. and what you say goes..... Then it is just not worth the battle for control...and...it will make for serious problems that your family just may not recover from.

lean on each other and your friends as much as you can and make this an enjoyable day...for you, your guests and of course...your family!!
