Alternative Wedding Ideas That Reflect the Couple's Personal Interests

If you are planning a wedding, but want something other than the traditional ceremony, there are several alternative themes and locations to choose from. You do not have to feel bound by tradition; your wedding is your special day and can be anything you like.

The Beach Wedding
Beach weddings are beautiful with the sand and water. When choosing this type of wedding there are some things to consider. You should check with your local government office to see if there are any permits required and if there are any fees. You also want to take into account the time of day, and the season. In most places temperatures are warmer in the middle of the day, so you may want to plan accordingly. When deciding on the season you want to think about which seasons bring large amounts of rain, you do not want your big day to be rained out.

Beach weddings usually require fewer rentals; you may want to rent a tent just in case it rains. You can also decide if you want to rent chairs, or have your guests stand. There may also be a need for some type of sound system, depending on how large your ceremony will be.

Beach weddings can be simple and beautiful. A simple short ceremony with close family and friends fits well with this theme.

A Wedding in the Park
Holding your wedding in a park is also a great idea. If you decide on the park you still have all of the outdoor beauty, without the added water, sand, and wind. These weddings can also be simple and delicate, or large and elaborate, depending on your personal preference. You should be sure to check with your local government office to see if there are any permits or fees required with this location as well.

Theaters
Theaters are a bit less common, but work very nicely. Most theaters already have a stage, chairs, a sound system, and dressing rooms. A great aspect about the theater option is that you can decorate it in any theme that you like.

Sporting Arenas

If you are a big baseball or football fan, you may want to consider having it on the field at your favorite stadium. This is definitely an original concept, although it may be a little costly to rent out the location. You could even take the ceremony a step further and have your wedding party dress in sporting uniforms.

Museums
Museums are usually exquisitely decorated and perfect for a wedding ceremony. If you do not want to bother with visitors to the museum stopping in on your ceremony, you may want to see if you can rent the entire building out, or if there are certain days the museum is closed to the public. Depending on the size of the museum, you may also want to consider the amount of parking available. This would be a great location, however, if you love history.

A Hotel or Bed and Breakfast
Many hotels have banquet rooms that would work well for a wedding ceremony. They usually provide everything that you need including chairs, a sound system, and some even provide catering. It is also a great idea to check out the local Bed and Breakfast faculties in your area. Some of these are located in beautiful historical homes with lovely gardens that would be perfect for a wedding.

When deciding on your wedding location and ceremony, consider the things that are important to you. What about the place that you're first met? Is there a location that you and your finance love to visit and spend time? Do you have a strong love for sports? Do you love to golf? You are only limited by your imagination.
