My name is definitely a mouth full isn’t it?
Before we begin, I’d like to explain the correct pronunciation of my first name. Many have made the mistake of pronouncing it like cherries. Some have even resorted to just making it my nick name. However, sweet (pun intended) the gesture, this is not the correct way to say my name. It is pronounced, Shir-rēs. I know, I know, it’s totally not how it’s spelled. Believe me, I know. I grew up getting into a lot of trouble for missing attendance calls in school because the teacher would mispronounce my name and I didn’t recognized they were calling out to me, unless I was really paying attention. I can laugh about it now..hahaha.
Now that that has been cleared up, let me say WELCOME to Stylish Weddings & Things’ blog page. I’m a blogger. You’re a blogger. We have at least that in common. What’s more we have weddings on our minds, be it your own wedding or you’re in the business of weddings, we are in love with LOVE. Well at least I am. I have a passion for it. I wish I can packagelove into a neat little box and spread it around. But since I can’t do that, making a mark in the wedding industry will have to do.
I am married to a wonderful man who’s more than my soul mate. His name is Phil. Without his love and encouragement to fulfill my dreams, none of this would be possible. Together we have a beautiful family with 4 children between us, Daniella 21, Shamar 13, Phillip 3, and a brand new baby girl, Isabella 3 months on October 9th.
Our wedding was very simple. It wasn’t elaborate, fancy, or any of those things. It was lovely, small and intimate. We were wed in the church where we met. In fact, our church was relatively new so we were the first to be married there. I knew when I met him during an outreach event that I had a hand in planning, he would be someone special in my life. I was right. I totally thank God for him.
Because of the love I have, I wanted to surround myself in love and make it a career. Stylish Weddings & Things was birthed on an idea that I can be a part of making someone else’s day beautiful and magical…highlighting what’s important, the love that brought the couple together. It’s so important to remember why you’re getting married in the first place and sometimes the business of it all can put blinders up blocking what was meant to be a joyous journey. My goal is to remove WHATEVER it is that may hinder a couple’s focus on the love for each other.
