When Gem and Jon contacted me asking if I would photograph their wedding in Bristol's old paint factory. I was very excited to accept! - I've been wanting to photograph a wedding there for a couple of years now because of it's amazing urban / industrial styling.
Jon was getting ready at the Royal Marriott Hotel, and Gem at home in Bristol. She had originally told me that she'd be traveling in one of Bristol's Blue Cabs but surprised everyone by arriving to the wedding in beautiful vintage Jaguar. The intimate ceremony was held in Paintworks' main hall, with the other half divided off for the reception later. I was relieved to find out that confetti was encouraged by the venue ( some places asking for it to be 'saved until later' ) - so we had fun taking those photo out in the yard area.
We took the formal photographs out in the yard, by the beautiful vintage airstream caravan (used buy the registrar for the pre-wedding meetings) - and then walked up to Bristol's Arnos Vale cemetery , to get some more relaxed photographs of just the two of them, which came out really well. It's always nice to brake away from the main reception at some-point in the day to allow the bride and groom a little time to themselves, without all the hustle and bustle of the big day.
What's great about the paint works is that it really is just a big blank canvas, and Gem & Jon decorated it impeccably. Gem created all the table cloths from vintage prints, the table numbers were hand woven around pins (an looked incredible) and so was the table plan itself - incredible.
After the speeches and the cutting of the cake, the ceremony area was cleared and Mark Tew from Cadence-Entertainment set up the dance-floor, filling it with Indi Classics. Paintworks have a great little box-room off the side of the bar which was set up as a photobooth, with fancydress box and digital camera with self timer on a tri-pod.
Such a fun day guys, thank you so much for having me involved!!
