FEATHERS! FEATHERS! FEATHERS! The trend that flew in a couple years ago is expected to come back full force. Feathers really seem to have taken flight in early spring of this year. However, it doesn’t seem to have reached its climax yet; feathers are continuing to gain popularity. If you haven’t already began to notice items incorporating feathers already keep your eyes peeled because you are destine to see more items in the near future.

Beyond the whimsical look that feathers can present they have long been believed to symbolize different things. The meanings varied through cultures and religions. Many cultures long ago, such as Native Americans and Egyptians, believed they were a way to communicate with different gods by invoking them or helping their souls in the afterlife. Whereas, Christianity created a symbol of their own using feathers to signify the virtues charity, hope, and faith.

Feathers continue to symbolize a variety of things still in modern time. A few things that people more commonly think feathers symbolize in more recent times are as follows: truth, speed, flight, ascension, and innocence.

Whether it is the symbolism, or merely a look becoming more coveted, feathers have already infiltrated the high fashion world in various run way shows. They have entered the homes of millions through television ads for items similar to hair extensions with feather accents. They have even made their way into multiple facets of weddings industry.

Where has this feather trend ascended?

Hair accessories
Jewelry
Bouquets
Centerpieces
Clothing
Shoes
Purses

Feathers have arisen in many facets of the wedding industry (as well as out of the industry). Many items are being accented with feathers, while others items are being constructed almost purely of feathers.  Whatever the case may be, feathers are coming back full seed.
