What can I say about James and Anna? I could do what every other photographer does and say they were amazing and awesome and that I loved working with them...which I did. BUT! There is more to their story than rainbows and butterflies and fluffy clouds. James and Anna are both Armenian, and their wedding was totally different than what I'm used to seeing. It began at the bride's home in Forest Hills. While she was getting ready, I photographed the details in a beautiful white room that was set up before I got there.

The modern Wilmington NC wedding is evolving quickly. In a town with such a heavy emphasis on tradition, many brides and grooms are electing to forgo their family's customs and create memories based on their own ideas. Enter the modern Wilmington NC wedding photographer (that's me!). My clients are constantly bringing fresh and interesting concepts to their special days that consistently impress even the most experienced industry professionals.

One thing I have to say about Anna's family: they had everything planned down to the finest detail. I have to admit that my job was a cakewalk all day long. All I had to do was point my camera, click the button, and BAM! Beautiful image.

As the day went on, more and more family showed up until finally the groom arrived accompanied by his groomsmen and a modern take on traditional Armenian music. It was so cool. People of all ages from 5 years old to 80 were dancing and smiling and laughing. After the initial celebration, the happy couple climbed into the limousine and headed to the church to get married. The ceremony was lovely, and afterwards we traveled to a beautiful park to take photos. Anna and James were so in love, I barely had to do any posing or directing.

The reception was a blast with music and dancing for another 5 hours. If you ever get invited to an Armenian wedding, bring Red Bull. I never expected to shoot other cultures as a Wilmington wedding photographer, but I'm so glad I did!
