At first I was hesitant to photograph my Brothers wedding rather than be a guest. But as we were talking over potential wedding dates, he said he, “wanted the best”. Naturally, that got me teary-eyed and I knew I didn’t really have a choice.
My family knows what I do but they never really got to see me in action. They only ever got to see the finished product. As you can imagine, I was very nervous. Actually, more so than I had ever been about a shoot.
However, the day progressed like any other wedding day; my family tried to make thinks more chaotic than they actually were. But I kept the ball rolling so to speak, and it began to move along like all of the other weddings I shot.
It was astounding to see my brother’s “romantic” side. I didn’t know, much less think he had it in him. In the end, the romance I captured turned out beautiful images.
I felt like all my training had led up to this day. And it paid off. But then I got to thinking…. It’s almost as if all of my Brides and Grooms were my brothers and sisters to me on their special day. I typically take things quite personally and want everyone to be happy. Some may see this is personality flaw, but I have come to embrace it and be at peace with it.
I hope you all will enjoy taking a look at a few of the images from that day.
