If there's one thing you want to go off without a hitch, it's your wedding day. But that doesn't mean you have to do what everyone else is doing. Your wedding is your special day for you and your spouse-to-be – it needs to stand out from the rest in order to be yours and truly memorable. One of the best ways to do that is to choose a unique, creative venue. Here are some examples to get the creative juices flowing so you can celebrate your wedding in style.

Make an Adventure of it

If you’re of the adventurous type, tying the knot somewhere where just being there gets your heart pumping could be the option for you. It could be underneath a waterfall, on a mountaintop, or even inside a canyon. Or maybe at a ski resort, or by a whitewater river. Some couples even go skydiving or bungee-jumping to commemorate their unions. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you're staying safe no matter what, and that you and your partner agree on the venture.

Rooftops

What could set the tone better than a breathtaking view? If you live in a city, or are hosting your wedding in a city, a rooftop wedding provides the event with a skyline as a gorgeous backdrop that could make anyone fall in love. Some wedding venues offer rooftop receptions as well so you can keep the beautiful views throughout your wedding and the reception.

For added flair and romance, you can string up fairy lights or use candlelight to set the atmosphere. Include your favorite songs on the wedding playlist, and maybe even look into hiring a DJ to make it extra fun and engaging. Hosting your wedding in the evening or nighttime will make the city sights around you especially dazzling.

A Grand Ballroom

Throw the party of your dreams in a gorgeous ballroom decked to the nines. Many ballroom venues, such as Russo’s On the Bay, offer personalized decor, table, chair, and linen services, as well as in-ballroom dining, so you won’t have to worry about setup, cleanup, or external catering. In addition, you can plug in your wedding playlist to the venue’s in-house A/V system, and even play wedding videos if they have TVs, which most typically do. For wedding speeches, a venue should offer a stage to rent, as well as a microphone and speaker system.

A grand ballroom is an intimate and cozy setting, and can be as large or small as you like. Depending on the size of the ballroom, you can invite both guests and family members and friends alike with room to spare. Be sure to include a table where guests can put their gifts, a well-wishing notebook, and provide plenty of seating, not to mention a dance floor.

Yachts

Do you and your partner have your sea legs? Then you may want to try a unique venture and go out into the water for an exclusive yacht party to celebrate your special day. Renting a yacht for a wedding with an average number of guests comes with a price tag in the $10,000 to $15,000. But if the cost isn’t a bother, renting a yacht can be one of the best and most exclusive ways to make your big day more memorable than anything, and will keep your guests talking for months to come.

Yachts can offer bar and catering services, as well as linen and glassware services, so cleanup won’t be on your agenda. If you’re wanting to go especially big, a fireworks display on the water could be the grandest finale to the best day of your life.

Orchard

Orchards are overflowing with natural, romantic beauty. Host your wedding in an orange grove, and you 'll enjoy their lovely fragrance and color. Apples orchards are especially popular at the end of the year in the autumn, when the leaves are in full splendor. Want a tropical wedding? A grove of coconut trees in paradise would set a fun, laid-back atmosphere. This kind of venue is more rustic than traditional, but can still be fun for everyone.

Decorating with a natural theme in an orchard will tie the venue together nicely. Use wooden textures, natural bouquets, and earthy, natural colors. Light tiki torches or fairy lights when it gets dark in the evening, and play your favorite love songs over the venue. Including natural-themed wedding party favors could be another fun way to integrate the setting into your special day.

Aquariums or Zoos

Are you and your spouse-to-be animal lovers? Hosting your wedding in an aquarium, surrounded by sea life, or in a zoo by a wild animal enclosure are just some more unforgettable ways to celebrate your special day together. Many aquariums offer spacious viewing areas for their exhibits, including oceanic shark tanks with beautiful blue light illumination. Zoos often sport large gathering places for crowds, which offer plenty of room for guests and tables with a view of the animal enclosures. Allowing guests to tour the aquarium or zoo as they enjoy the food and each other’s company is sure to make the event memorable, enjoyable, and exciting.

Some aquariums and zoos even take a portion of your wedding budget and direct it towards conservation services, so you can enjoy the feeling of preserving nature while marrying the one you love.

Your wedding is an extension of you and your partner's personalities and love for each other. That's why picking the venue that speaks to you the most is so important. Don't worry about what the majority opinion is, nor what your family would want. Just go for what feels right, what you and your spouse-to-be are into, and you’ll be remembering your special day together for years to come.
