5 Unexpected Gifts You Wish You Had In Your Wedding Registry

Wedding registries often contain a common pool of gifts that usually end up in the storage spaces of brides and grooms, collecting dust in the "forgotten" section of their home. While the sentiment of these long-forgotten gifts is much appreciated, it would be a lot wiser to add to your registry things that are much more useful to you instead. What's useful to you may not exactly be a quintessential registry item, but you'll be sure to send plenty of heartfelt thank-you notes in the long haul. Besides, wouldn't you rather have that long-awaited grill than the oh-so typical gravy boat?  While breaking tradition may not be social norm, here are 4 unexpected wedding gifts that would make any bride and groom envious of your registry.

 A Grill

Whether you're throwing a BBQ or just cooking up a few steaks for dinner, a grill is definitely a prized appliance in many households, and should be considered for your registry wedding should you enjoy cooking up delicious meals outdoors. While supply stores like Lowe's and Home Depot may not offer registry services, other shops like Sears and Crate and Barrel should have you covered.

Smart Home Tech

With most homes nowadays containing a myriad of "smart" devices, a great idea would be to acquire the tech that makes them easily controllable. Even if your home isn't filled with many ""smart" devices, making the switch could make your life a lot easier. From smart lights to thermostats, these things can easily be monitored and controlled from your phone or linked through a Smart Hub like Samsung SmartThings. An excellent start is the Samsung Philips Hue start kit, which comes with a set of controllable white or multi-colored light bulbs. A Smart deadbolt will make it so nobody gets locked out and you won’t ruin the honeymoon arguing about if someone locked the door.

Cleaning Equipment

Cleaning your home may not exactly be on the top of your to-do list, but having the right equipment could easily make you want to move it up a few places. After all, everyone knows how difficult it can be to vacuum an area rug or carpet when your vacuum just isn't powerful enough. Cleaning your home will be a lot easier and much more pleasant with the proper set of tools. An excellent start would be a multi-surface vacuum and steam mop. Both Dyson and Bissell offer a wide array of vacuums and steam cleaners respectively.

Movers

Nothing ruins the wedding and honeymoon bliss as much as movers. Most people hate moving. Let alone busy couples who are prioritizing their wedding. Chances are both fiancées are moving to a new place, or one is moving in. Either way, moving is taxing on your body and time. Adding a moving company like Modern Movers, Inc. to your registry can help unload a lot of stress, physical toil, and let you focus on honeymooning.

Tools

Simple repairs in the home can easily become a headache without the proper set of tools, or without tools at all. There are a fundamental set of tools each person should have in their arsenal to make small jobs less of a headache should they arise. From adjustable wrenches to screwdrivers, a home is rarely complete without these fundamental tools. Target and Bed Bath & Beyond both offer basic tool kits that you can add to your registry.

Although commonplace registry items may be well appreciated, they aren't always well used, and often go unused. While breaking tradition can be considered social faux pas, it would be a lot wiser to add things to your wedding registry that you may actually need and use, no matter how unexpected they may be for guests.
