4 Skincare Tips to Avoid Stubborn Sunburns Before The Wedding

We’re all happy as the weather starts to warm up. You want to be able to have fun with your friends, but don't want to be peeling or sunburnt when your big day comes. Nothing is worse than having to have  your legs, arms, chest, and face all different shades of sunburnt. You want to enjoy the summer months however, the one thing that many dread is peeling when you should be glowing. Here are 4 tips on how to avoid nasty sunburns for you and your wedding party.

Rash Guards

Rash guards are swimming shirts and many of them come with SPF protection. The UV rays reflect off the water which increases the chances of getting a sunburn while swimming. A rash guard is a great way to protect a large portion of your upper body including shoulders and back which are commonly burned areas.

High SPF Sunscreens

SPF 30 is scientifically the optimal sunscreen choice. However, many people with fairer skin tones swear by higher SPF sunscreen. You can get anywhere from SPF 10 to SPF 110 so just choose the one that works best for you and your family. Sunscreen should be 15 minutes before going out into the sun and reapplied every hour. Always remember that a higher SPF doesn’t mean that you can go longer without reapplying.

Seek Shade

Most places have shaded areas whether they be from trees or man-made shelters. Places like the beach may not have any and you’ll experience intense sun that reflects both off of the water and sand. For beach days or other locations where there isn’t easily accessible shade, you should always bring your own. Things like tents or large umbrellas are easily portable and relatively quick to set up. It may seem like a hassle, but it’ll save you and your skin a lot of trouble.

Protect Your Face

It can be hard to keep your face well protected from the sun. Many people forget about it or willingly ignore it to avoid the inconvenience. Wear sunglasses with UV protection to protect your eyes and eyelids. Polarized lenses can reduce the glare and make your day a little more enjoyable, Your lips need protecting as well. There are many different lip balms available with SPF protection. There are also sunscreen sticks made specifically for your face. These allow for easier and faster application around vulnerable areas and are available up to SPF 50. Everyone reacts differently to sunburns. If you get blisters or swelling you may have a second or third degree sunburn and should go to an urgent care center. These can become infected and result in scarring.

Follow these simple tips to avoid sunburn, but always have aloe at home just in case. Try to keep a spare bottle of sunscreen in the glove compartment of the car year-round to ensure you never forget. If you are going to be wearing a sweetheart neckline and want to be protected follow these tips. Enjoy the sun and stay safe.
