Romance. Lace. Ruffles. Princesses. It’s all part of the weddings trends for 2012. Two movies come to mind when I think about what I’d use as inspiration if I was planning a wedding in 2012: “Pride and Prejudice” and “Cinderella.” The scenery and props of Pride and Prejudice combined with Cinderella’s wedding gown and horse drawn carriage (maybe not a pumpkin though…) would be right on trend. Here is a little preview of what we are expected to see next year.
- Colors are all over. It doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with any color palette. Some popular mixes are red cherry and lime, coral and grey, hot pink and black or white, mocha with soft pinks, light blue and aqua, and a mixture of oranges.
- Themed weddings are back. I am looking forward to seeing what unique details your choose to tie into your theme. Everything from the cake and invitations to dinner and venue will tie into the theme. Be creative and pick a theme that reflects you as a couple. Whether it is a flea market theme or a nautical theme, you can’t go wrong.
- Romantic elegance is the biggie in 2012. This is where the princess part comes in. Think silver or gold accents, chandeliers, English gardens, statues, ball gowns, hats and gloves, romantic candlelight, soft hair.
- Pets in the wedding party are still huge. Everyone will be ohhing and awwing over your sweet pup as he stumbles down the isle to bring your rings. Some are even dressing them in tiny tuxes or dresses to match the wedding party.
- There are various attributes to the popular wedding dresses of 2012, most of them sticking with the romantic feel. Victorian style dresses, horsehair trim, corsets, layers of soft ruffles, lace sleeves, two tiered skirts, short lengths and illusion necklines are a few of the big trends. It is also okay to add a little color this year. We are seeing dresses in light sage and blush — a beautiful addition.
- Flowers are still gorgeous and detailed but may have an added addition of ribbon and paper accents in them. Handmade flowers made of tissue or feathers may even take over the tables as your centerpieces.
