Wedding Menu and Offering your guests two Entree Selections

What do most guests remember from a wedding? The Wedding entree choices of course! Approximately 3 months before the wedding you should sit down with your venue's Catering Manager and discuss your menu options. It is very hard to select that one main entree choice and hope that everyone likes it.

More and more weddings are choosing to give their guests a choice of two entrees by selecting their meal in their RSVP card. Is this a good idea? Absolutely…

Thank you to Bridal Tweet from I Just Said Yes

When I look back at my own wedding which was over 20 years ago, I often say "what was I thinking choosing pink and royal blue colors".  I guess at the time they may have been the color of choice but today I would do everything differently.

As an event planner for over 15 years in Canada, I have had the great pleasure of working with thousands of brides…

Become an Educated Bride

Planning a wedding is a fun and exciting time for a bride-to-be, but of course we know how expensive and difficult it can become. Many women want to go all out with glitz and glamour for this once-in-a-lifetime event. I am here to tell you that you can have all that, but you need to accurately plan what you want, and how you are going to get it. The most important thing that must be stressed is setting a practical budget. The better informed you are, the more money, time, and headache you'll… Continue

Should I do assigned seating for my wedding?

One week to go for the big day.  There are so many last minute details to take care including the seating plan.  Once you have received your floor plan from the venue, it’s time to make your seating chart.  This can be a tedious task but the majority of weddings choose to assign guest seats and I highly recommend it.  This will help to avoid some confusion to start the night.  Guests will enter the hall and look for either place cards or a list at the door…

Paralyzed Bride dances with her new Husband

In one of my previous posts I told you about my bride who is paralyzed and was determined to walk down the aisle and dance with her fiance on their wedding day.  Well, I am happy to report SHE DID IT.

I was not at the ceremony but had the privilege to see her have that first dance with her new husband.   Just…

What to do with out-of-town wedding guests?

Your wedding is a time when all your friends and family come together to celebrate your unity of marriage. Some of your friends or family are coming in from out-of-town and you want to do your best to keep them happy and busy during their stay. You should be sincerely flattered that these out-of-town guests are spending the time, money and effort to attend your wedding. Obviously it is very important to them and in return you want them…

Cash or Host Bar at Weddings

hh

Should couples offer a cash or host bar at their wedding?  I have written about this before but it seems to be a very popular question so thought I would touch on this subject again.

Weddings are all about the food, music and of course the alcohol.  The average number of drinks for a wedding reception is around 7 drinks, that is one drink per hour.  Depending on your…

Weddings and Appetizers

So many couples are spending money on appetizers prior to dinner service.  I personally love this idea and think it brings a level of elegance to the event.

You can keep the cost down by having the wait staff butler pass these items.  You only need to order 2-3 pieces total per person.  Remember it’s just a  small sample and the dinner will be following shortly.  Most guests will only take one appetizer at a time.  The wait…

Wedding Dance before or after dinner?

When to do the first dance?  Traditionally it is right after the meal just before opening the dance floor. Have you ever considered doing the first dance immediately following the head table introductions.  Everyone is standing and clapping for you anyways so you have their full attention.  I have seen this done many times with my weddings and it's beautiful.   All eyes are on you!

What are your thoughts?
