Getting Ready for Wedding Day "How to Hair"

Wedding Day Hair

What to Do before the Big Day

Plan your wedding hairstyle and make up. These 2 things must work together and you don't want to find out at the last minute that something conflicts with something else.

Choose your hairstyle before you choose your head dress or your veil. When you have chosen a head dress or veil to match your hairstyle try it out!

A Trial Run will show up any flaws in your plan and get you ready for your big… Continue

Creativity starts in an Instant

Brides can use some of the techniques that professional designers use by staying on task and following through on great ideas. Say you get up in the middle of the night and have a vision of a cottage theme, the next morning immediately look for ideas that go along with it. Book your wedding for the summer, decide you will have mint juleps on the porch for the cocktail hour, and have decor that looks like a summer vacation. Open trunks, rowing oars,

swings with flowered stanchions, you get… Continue

Ella & Jerry's winter enagegement photos are cool! :)

Winter can be tricky for photo shoots, especially when one wants to spend time outside and play. Not the case for the Sunday Ella and Jerry picked for their engagement photo session: mild temperature, perfect light, not to mention such cool models! What else could I ask for? We spent about 2 hours walking around the Casa Loma area which is super rich in terms of nice corners and interesting backgrounds. It was fun, in a nutshell!

Ella & Jerry, I very much look forward to your… Continue

Venetian Hour

I love wedding trends! It is so fun to be up on the new items and chic happenings in the events industry. Have you heard of this one?

The Venetian Hour (that even sounds trendy!) is a fancy dessert buffet that is rolled out towards the end of the wedding reception or event. It usually includes a fancy selection of decadent cakes, truffles, and high end pastries. The goal here would be excellence, decadence.

It is an Italian tradition and in that tradition this is where the… Continue

Wedding Open House

Out of the clear blue the other night, I came up with the idea to hold a Wedding Open House at the church where I am the Wedding Coordinator (Unity Church of Sheboygan). I had been trying to come up with ideas on how to get the word out that we were marketing ourselves as a Wedding Chapel and bam (!) it hit me with the Open House idea.

My idea is to have the church open for several hours to be able to show brides and grooms what our church looks like and to tell them about our… Continue

Touching Up - quick question from a bride

G: "I looked at your website and I must say that your work is very good! I would like to know if your wedding packages include touching up the pictures? The reason that I am asking is because I have scars on my face and I am VERY picky about the way I look in photos. Sometimes the scars don't show up at all and other times they do, I think it just depends on the lighting. Please let me know. Thank you for all of your help =)"

Rosie: "Of course I do. All my final images required light… Continue

The Bride Educates the Stationer - 2010 Style

While the year is still young and I’ve only had a few consultations, I’ve certainly been learning a lot about what this years brides want in wedding stationery – at least in my general location of the world.

During a consultation this past weekend for invitations; as this bride was flipping through the pages of various albums, she piped up with one comment that really got my mind racing. Here it is, in all its brutal honesty… “You know, these are all very pretty… but, they are… Continue

Want to Avoid Unwanted Guests?

Cake-Cutting Time

Consider cutting and serving your wedding cake during a break in dancing, NOT right after dinner. Let’s say you have a 5:00 ceremony and a 6 to 10:00 reception (cocktails at 6:00, dinner at 7:00, dancing at 8:00). A good time for cake-cutting would be 9:00 – after about one hour of dancing.

Here's why.

What I call "energy flow" is a key to your reception's success. By the end of dinner, your guests have spent three hours watching your ceremony, standing around for… Continue
