Floral Spotlight :: Scabiosa ‘Black Knight’

Up until one year ago, we were completely in the dark about this captivating deep wine and lavender bloom.  As a florist of 13+ years, it is my job to know ALL about stunning beauties such as this dramatic Scabiosa named the Black Knight. After running across it one day at a small farmers market in Washington, I was enamored, and, as it…

Shi Shi Events - Winter Wonderland Wedding

When we first met Sarah & Brian we knew that it was not only important that their wedding day be a celebration of their love, but also a celebration of their coming together as a family. Brian's young son Joshua was to serve as a groomsman, and both Sarah & Brian wanted to be sure that family would be at the heart of the sentiment for their 12/10/10 wedding. The day was also full of sweet surprises from the bride and groom to each other like Brian's gift of a…

by Laura Dix

A wedding doesn’t have to themed to incorporate vintage elements…A few vintage accessories add a touch of classic style for any groom and groomsmen.

Compared to an extravagant wedding or bridesmaid dress, wedding attire for men may seem to come up a little short. Some vintage touches like antique cufflinks or decorative pocket squares can add some understated style to any man’s wedding day outfit.

Vintage Ties

Ties are often the most colorful part…

Venues We Love: Piper's Heath Golf Course

The best place to start is with something you know and love.  And I love Piper’s Heath.  Now, I will admit that I’m a bit biased in this opinion, as I hosted my very own wedding at this venue.  Truly, I don’t have a bad word to say about them – from the people, to the venue itself, to the flow of the day.  Everything was gorgeous and pain-free.

Piper’s Heath is located in Milton, ON on Trafalgar Rd. just south of Britannia.  It is a relatively new course (opened in March 2007)  and…

Trends We Love: Polka Dot Wedding Dresses

The dress you choose is one of the most personal aspects of your wedding as it speaks volumes not only about your personal style, but about the mood you want to set for the day.  There are so many options out there, and it really is a matter of personal preference when it comes to the style of your dress.  A trend that I’ve noticed out there recently is dresses with polka dots – so vintage, and so gorgeous!  What a cute way to add some personality to an otherwise simple style.

Tools We Love: The Knot's Inspiration Board Maker

There are a lot of online tools out there that can help you organize your thoughts around your wedding.  The Knot has a particularly nice offering of said tools.  I personally used their Guest List Manager tool for my wedding, which allowed me to track guest information in one neat place.

Anyways, The Knot has a new tool that allows you to create your own Wedding Inspiration Board(s).  You pick your template, add photos from their database or upload your own, et voila!  Your own…
