Here are some words of wisdom from the American Academy of Wedding Professionals.

Today we'd like to talk to you about the right way to ask for gifts. After all, we know it's impolite to include registry information in an engagement party, shower, or wedding invitations. and what's worse is to ask for cash!
The reasoning is this: You cannot dictate to your guests the type of gifts you'd like to have. and it's…

If I have said it before, I will say it again, having a videographer at your wedding is so important if you want to capture the memories that you are making. You have taken months to plan the perfect day - don't you want to capture everything you can?
I love Lance Harding's work. He is a true professional, fun to work with, and a dedicated romantic. Here is one of his videos - they make me cry every time.

Thinking out of the box for your wedding is very important if you want to tell your story in a unique and stylized way that stands out from every other wedding. Doing a little homework on the web or visiting area boutiques can yield ideas that you might not have thought of before. Watching fashion trends, reading up on the latest wedding magazines or watching specific television shows about weddings can also give you ideas. Here are some interesting sites for inspiration for your…

I took some time off yesterday and took my parents out to lunch in Clear Lake. It was a belated Father's Day present since we were up to our necks in weddings during the month of June and I missed his day. I had promised them lunch, so I just shut off the cell phones and closed the computer for a day of antiquing, store browsing, cookie munching and seeing the beautiful waters of Clear Lake.
This is also the town where the legendary…

The following is reproduced from the AAWP. It is a great discourse on the bridal white that so many women wear.
Why do brides wear white? We know that white symbolizes purity and virginity-but what's the real reason? The answer dates back to 1840 when Victoria, Queen of England, married her Prince Charming, Albert, in a wedding that set protocol on its ear. The young Queen was only 20 when SHE proposed marriage to Albert. According to the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, all royal…

For some reason, my blog posting has been down, so in defense of the cyber system, let's hope I am back on track with today's posting!
Here are some housekeeping items that brides will want to take note of:
1. Make sure that all vendors are paid in full prior to your wedding date. We don't like having to hound you on the day of your wedding or calling you after the fact. We really dislike the money issue.
2. Make sure that you bring something to take your left…

Here are some things to look for when choosing a florist:
1. How do they deliver their flowers? If they do not deliver their bouquets in a vase with water, then walk. They clearly will be delivering flowers that will have been out of the water for quite some time. There is no excuse for this. By night's end, your bouquets will need to be thrown away - not so good if you would like to keep them a few days or preserve them.
2. When you ask them for flower choices, do they…

Here are a few observations that my crew has found that are true with most weddings, no matter where they are held:
1. You will always have some guests that will not dress up. But a ratty baseball cap worn during the ceremony and the reception????
2. Lemon peels do not burn in the votive cups, but rose petals will. Crystal droplets only smother out the flame and yes, wax poured out on table linens really does ruin the linen.
3. The table decorations are not for…
