Wedding cakes are beautiful, creative, unique and hopefully taste good too. But do you know the the tradition behind the wedding cake?
According to experts, wedding cakes have been around since the Roman times. The Romans baked a small bun that was broken above the bride's head at the close of the ceremony. The cake's main ingredient - wheat - meant fertility and the crumbs were eagerly gathered by the guests as good-luck charms.

According to most etiquette and bridal experts, wedding favors are a way for the bride and groom to share their wedding magic with all of their guests.
Brides and grooms have always been considered to be lucky. In past times wedding guess wanted that luck to rub off on them. So the guests would help themselves to this luck by tearing off ribbons or small pieces of lace from the bride's wedding dress. They would snatch little flowers from her bouquet.
