Who said your wedding day nails had to be basic and boring? Many brides are deciding to forgo the usual french nails and are selecting designs that define their style and personality.

Melissa & David's wedding was truly an unforgettable celebration of love, commitment and culture! Melissa was joined by her Guyanese, Indian and Canadian family & friends; David was represented by his Haitian family & friends. Both families did a remarkable job welcoming their new family member. However, David's family also expressed a little sadness because he'll be leaving South Florida and moving to Canada to start his new life with Melissa. He is loved and will truly be missed!
Our favorite parts of the wedding day:
- Seeing David's beautiful smile as Melissa walked down the aisle.
- Heartfelt speeches and words of encouragement given by the families, especially David's nieces and nephews. "We're going to miss you Uncle David." Awww.
- Melissa wrote a beautiful letter to David (in Creole) and she read it to him during the reception. He was totally surprised and delighted! We were thankful his best man was standing by her side to translate. The letter was soooo beautiful and touching.
- The celebration. From the first song "Zouk La Se Sel Medikaman Nou Ni" to the last song, the dance floor stayed pack 100+.
We wish David and Melissa a lifetime of happiness. May they continue to put Jehovah first in their lives. Congratulations you two! Smooches.

The cake tasting is the sweetest part of planning your wedding. :-) However, there are a few things you need to review to prepare yourself.
Information the pastry chef will need:
1. Your Cake Budget
2. Guest Count
3. Description of your wedding style/theme
4. Location of your reception (indoors or outdoors)
What to bring:
Pictures or drawings of your top 2 favorite designs
Cake topper (if using one)
Decisions you'll make:
1. Flavor- Cake & Filling (
make sure you consider your guests when making this decision)
2. Cake Shape
3. Fondant or Buttercream
Before arriving:
1. Remember to eat something before arriving because everything tastes good when you're hungry.
2. Review the company's website. If there's a specific flavor you'd like to taste call and let the pastry chef know in advance.
Things to do during the tasting:
1. Review the pastry chef's portfolio
2. Drink water between samples to cleanse your palette
3. Sample chocolate and richer cakes last
4. ENJOY!!

This past Saturday I spent the afternoon at an event with some “CURLfriends”. It was National Natural Hair Meetup Day and the meetup I attended was hosted by Naturals in the Sun. These
ladies did an awesome job ORCHESTRATING this event. There were techniques shared, a product swap, vendor displays, free
samples and giveaways. I was one of the many giveaway winners! I
won a couple hair care products from one of the sponsors, karen's body beautiful.
As a seasoned cosmetologist and second time (by choice) naturalista, I found this event to be very informative. I was even inspired NOT to relax these coils. Between networking events, meetings, industry conferences, schedules, timelines, phone calls, emails, designing, orchestrating etc., I
was very close to applying "creamy crack" to these strands. I don't have time to condition, read blogs, moisturize, watch YouTube videos, mix, concoct, read labels, twist, steam, blowout, air dry or braid. LOL. Don't judge me, I'm just keeping it 100! :-)
Anyway, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to showcase some of the beautiful styles available to natural hair brides. I searched the web and these are some of my favorites:
Dedicating this video to all my CURLfriends!

One of our brides informed us that she's looking forward to having a Cookie Favor Buffet. Yummy! Most guests appreciate edible favors, so I'm sure it'll be a hit. Check out these cute ideas.

Lai's great to work with, very sweet & organized. I recommend her to everyone!
We met at the Clevelander, and it would be great to have our wedding there. Hotel reps there say they can accommodate us as they have completed the renovations.
But the thought of my senior and "saved" parents (his Mom too) in South Beach has me feeling unsure about being there. lol
We haven't set a date, I'm just getting a feel for what "out there" for us. I'm thinking it will be in 2011.
