Kristen and Brad's Wedding - St. Louis

Whittemore House served as the elegant backdrop for Kristen and Brad's Wedding in St. Louis on what must have been one of the hottest and most humid days this past summer. That didn't stop anybody from partying and having a great time.

Check out some of the highlight wedding photos that I posted on my Facebook page.

Working Together - Leslie and Ron's Wedding

As most of you know, J. Pollack Photography is the team of Jonathan Pollack and his wife and second shooter Stefani Pollack.  We are one of those fortunate couples that are not only able to work together, but in fact love to do so.  For Leslie and Ron's wedding, we worked together in a completely different way.  While Jonathan took photos, Stefani took care of the wedding cupcakes.  (You can read all about the cupcakes and see more wedding photos over on Stefani's blog, Cupcake Project.)

If you read Stefani's post, you'll learn that Ron is our cousin and Leslie was a cousin-to-be.  Because we're all family, the bride and groom wanted us to be able to enjoy the ceremony and reception at Moulin as guests instead of working.  Therefore, we only photographed the wedding preparations, posed formals, and the signing of the ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) and let the very capable team at McPeek Smith Photography handle the rest.  It was so thoughtful of Ron and Leslie to realize that we couldn't be both photographers and guests.

The planning by Simcha's and amazing lighting and floral design by Exclusive Events and Festive Atmospheres made for an exquisite-looking event where no detail was missed.

Here are some of our favorite photos:

Even though we weren't on the clock during the reception, we couldn't help but take a few more pictures.

Congratulations to cousins Leslie and Ron - may you have many joyous and sweet years together!

St. Louis Wedding Photos - Emma and Travis's Wedding

Shooting Emma's bridal portraits got us all excited about the upcoming wedding. We knew it would be a blast - and we were right. With the help of their stellar wedding planner, Dodson Events Group, both the ceremony and reception at St. Louis's City Museum went off without a hitch! We were so glad to share day with such a nice couple.

As if Emma weren't vibrant enough, the flowers by The Special Event Florist Tina Barrera really made the event pop.

We also enjoyed chatting with the nice folks from Hollyberry Baking Co.

And - we got to sneak a bite of the cake. Yum!

Congratulations to Emma and Travis!

Details! - Jill and Kai's St . Louis Wedding at Caroline Vineyard

While we love taking pictures of the Bride and Groom on their wedding day, most St. Louis brides and grooms like to have pictures of the little details that made their wedding extra special. To get the best shots of your details, remember to leave extra time in your wedding day for detail photos.

Let's look at some of the detail shots that we like to capture and we'll share some tips along the way.

If you'd like a photo of your dress, make sure to not only have us arrive before you put it on (duh!), but also remember to bring along a nice hanger to show it off; while a wire hanger can work, it doesn't look classy or fitting for a wedding dress. Since you've budgeted enough time on your wedding day for taking all of these detail pictures, we'll have plenty of opportunity to scout out the best place to set it up and photograph it.

Rings look beautiful on your fingers, but to give the rings the glory they deserve, we like to borrow them from you for a few minutes (we always give them back!) to take some close up shots.

We always photograph your cake before you eat it (and, of course, when you cut it, feed it to each other, or shove it in each other's faces). Cake toppers and flowers can make your cake picture perfect.

Your bouquet needs its moment to shine as well. Remember to keep it in water when you aren't using it so that the flowers stay fresh.

And - don't forget the shoes! Keep in mind that you don't need to wear heels. Jill, Kai, and their entire wedding party wore Chuck Taylors. Fun!

When thinking about your details, keep true to yourself - that always yields the best photos. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks to Jill and Kai for being our model couple and congrats again on your big day! We had a blast working with you!

Just Be Yourselves - Lindsey and Justin

To say that we had fun shooting Lindsey and Justin's St. Louis wedding at the 9th Street Abbey would be an understatement.  We had a blast because they did, too!  Their personalities and interests were present in every aspect of the day.  When you plan your wedding, never forget that it's your day - remember that it's OK to ignore protocol and do things your own way.

For some inspiration, take a look at what Lindsey and Justin did.

Congrats again to Lindsey and Justin!

Special thanks goes out to my awesome second and third shooters (Stef and Corey Woodruff)!
