Cellulite is a term used to describe deposits of fat & other material trapped in pockets of connective tissue beneath the skin. The main factors responsible for cellulite is excess consumption of saturated fats, lack of exercise, poor hydration and imbalances in hormonal function resulting from microcirculation impairment, fluid retention, reorganization and enlargement of fat cells, and alteration of connective tissue. Cellulite The "orange peel" look of the skin affects approximately 90% of all women over the age of 20. There can be many contributing factors which play a role in the cause and development of cellulite. Basically, the fat cells do not receive any nutrition nor have any waste removal. They reorganize into nodules so the cellulite becomes visible. Capillaries recede and the dermis becomes thinner, so nodules protrude and become more visible. The gradual impairment of blood flow causes the lymphedema to increase. The appearance of cellulite becomes worse. Clinically, this problem is the cause for the progressive dimpling “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” appearance over many parts of the body. The thighs and buttocks are the most prevalent areas for this condition.
