2 BIG Reasons to Publish Your Fees on Your Website

Dear Wedding Professionals:

Should you or should you not publish your fees on your website. This is an extremely hot topic among wedding vendors. How do I know? Because it is one of the most popular discussions that is currently going on in our wedding forum. Over 1,000 people have viewed a discussion on this particular topic and 150 people actually chimed in and shared their thoughts. You can visit this discussion by going to: Do you publish your fees or not

So what do I believe?  In my original post, I stated that I believe you should publish your fees on your website. Here's why:

  1. You own a business, so you have limited time in the day. Publishing your fees will in fact reduce the number of inquiries that you'll get. However, you'll get far better or more serious inquiries. These will be brides who know that your services are within their budget. So, you'll be more efficient with your time as you deal with this smaller, more qualified population of leads.
  2. You want to establish trust with your prospective wedding clients. As I've mentioned in the past, brides choose vendors that they connect with on a personal level. With hundreds of vendors to choose from, brides are more likely to choose vendors that they trust. Publishing your fees helps you to build trust because it makes a big part of your business transparent.

However, after reading more of your comments, I'd like to add this... If you're services are more consultative, you may not want to publish your fees.  Doing so, could place more importance on your price as opposed to conveying the actual expertise and value that you will deliver.  You may also decide to customize packages (and pricing) to meet the individual needs of clients.

Whether you decide to publish your fees or not, it's always important to remember the 5 Things That Brides Want Besides Low prices.  I personally decided to publish BridalTweet's advertising rates on this website. So far, it has helped me to manage my time better AND focus on advertisers that are serious about working with me.  So, what tips can you share about publishing your fees on your website? Please comment below.

Enjoy!

I had not in the past had my prices listed but because of this discussion and the fiscal state our country in right now I decided to list many of my prices. I have decided I'll try it out for a while and see if it makes a difference and I'll keep you all posted! Great discussion!!!

Our product is our wedding services at our resort, Cabo Azul Resort.  Originally we did not post any prices for our weddings and what happened with us is each wedding turned into a custom pricing schedule.  With the large quantity of weddings we put on a year, especially with the change in team members, it got somewhat confusing as each event came nearer to the big day.  Likewise, we did end up fielding a lot more questions than we had time for as Robert Williamson eluded to below.

Likewise, our prices aren't cheap, especially for our high end facility, so, having our prices published did start to funnel in clients that were willing to pay for the high level of service we provide.  Our calls of truly interested clients increased although the overall quantity of calls decreased.

I do currently post my prices, but something that Christine noted above really struck me: I am a Professional Bridal Consultant; hence, my services are more consultative in nature, and not every "package" is perfect for even the majority of my brides. Additionally, my pricing tends to be far below those of my comeptitors, not because I am trying to undercut them, but because my target market is more budget-conscious couples. That doesn't mean though that I will not work with middle or high-end brides, and I wonder if perhaps those perspective clients might see my rates and develop a concern that my services are so inexpensive because they are sub-par. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

An Essential Event:  I think a lot of people still go by the axiom, you get what you pay for, so, lower prices may tend to suggest sub-par.

I appreciat ehte feedback. I had never really considered the potential negative aspect of "good value" pricing when publishing my rates. This is very eye-opening.

I choose not to publish my prices as I base it on the services the client requires.

I offer packages which can be ammended

I really appreciate this feedback from BridalTweet. I am a destination wedding planner i receive a lot of call from everywhere and I  really enjoy to creates customized packages for each of our clients as everybody bride or groom need to be papempered with all details. ..But I think a "range" price is the best as you filter a little your clients but you don't say your price first. That can also heart people with different culture giving a price so..

I really enjoy to share your experiences :)

Have a nice day!

on my website & this too also helps weed out the serious customers vs. the "shoppers".  I receive calls from customers who have checked the website & would like to discuss my services further.  I'm very happy to be a part of the BRIDAL TWEET COMMUNITY Keep up the GREAT work !!!!  Happy Planning.  :-D

Like all of you, I am a shopper.

When given price choices, on products I would have no problems getting a generic substitute for, I am drawn to the lowest price.

When given price choices, on products or services I would prefer be of a better quality, I am drawn to the middle price.

When given price choices, on products or services I would prefer to be the best quality, I am drawn to the higher price.

When looking at pricing, we often judge the the quality of the product or service by its price.

So, rather than quote a price I would prefer to say something like.

"Our pricing will not be the lowest nor will it be the highest but our service will be the best."
