I'm DEFINITELY seeing more do it yourself which has made me add a variety of those products to my offerings.

According to our poll - If given an extra $1,000 for their wedding budget, 49% of couples would spend it on photography and videography.

Education of brides-to-be is important, but sometimes that only goes so far. I was wondering if anyone has asked the brides that wished they had hired you to post something on your FB fan page or reviews page about wishing they had hired you? It could be a good testimonial for brides-to-be that are researching your services.

Latest trend for grooms in 2010! It seems that grooms are taking a page from old hollywood this year when it comes to styling; borrowing looks from former hollywood hearthrobs Cary Grant. Rock Hudson and Humphrey Bogart. It's all about looking dashing and dapper in white tuxedos with black-rimmed lapels.

I have had many DIY brides contact me saying that they need assistance but decide that they do not have the budget to pay for it and decide that they will do it all themselves. Most call me after their wedding stating that they wish that they had listened to me and hired me anyway to take advantage of the wholesale discounts, and my 19 yrs experience so that their wedding day would have turned out like they wanted it. I too have noticed alota "do-it-yourself'ers" who ALWAYS end up saying they wished they'd paid someone else to do it. Usually because they had enough on their plates and it just gave them more to worry about.

We are noticing that some of the younger brides are trying a "do-it-yourself" wedding. Purchasing bride & bridal party bouquets and using pre-made silk or super-market bunches for reception and ceremony decor. We try to discourage silk at all costs and offer to show them or family member that is doing the super-market bunches how to arrange them for a better polished look. Low/tight budgets are understandable during these economic times and can be worked with to give the bride the best simplistic upscale look for her wedding.

In the past, when it came to Bridal Jewelry, brides seem to want "the look", but are reluctant to pay for it. I am seeing a shift in that trend these days, in that, they are recognizing that owning something of quality that they can wear after the wedding day, is becoming more important. Also noticing a lot of brides these days are well educated and absolutely know what they want!

I work with couples in their more senior years usually remarring after a long time marriage fails or one becomes a widow/widower. These couples find out very quickly that things have changed alot in the past several decades, especially prices. As a honeymoon specialist I offer alternatives to fit not only their budgets but their lifestyle. Older adults are not looking for the clubs and nightlife (well some are), but most are looking for a great place to relax and be with each other. Cruises are especially ideal for this age group because of the variety of events that are offered. Alaska and the Caribbean are the most requested honeymoon destinations. Cruises offer great value without a lot of packing and unpacking. I do agree with my fellow vendors that a lot of hand holding is required even with older adults, maybe more so. This age group has been out of the so called "circle" for a long time and need help to find everything. Fortunately older adults can afford a day of hand holding and usually are very thankful.

I always run into "future brides" that call me 2 weeks before their wedding date and try to book me then. How ignorant of them! A bride needs to call an Officiant as soon as she secures her venue, along with the date & time of the wedding. This ensures she's has prepared in advance and has at least booked the individual who will complete and legally marry them. No other vendor can do that. Then she can go forward and hire her vendors as she needs to. In the Tampa Bay area, we do 30,000 + weddings annually, with 56 million dollars a year being spent exclusively on wedding services. There are 50 different types of services that make up the wedding industry. That means officiants working in this region really have to thoroughly market their services in a professional manner in order to reach the bride and then get her business. It's not a task for beginners!
