I see your point. But what about the more established couples that really don't need to much of the traditional stuff? I did a wedding for a couple that truly didn't want or need to do a traditional registry. So after much thought, I helped them set up a sort of travel registry with my travel agent for their honeymoon. The guests were able to call or email my agent and pay for port excursions, champagne breakfasts for two, spa days, put money towards the cruise in general, etc. Most people loved the idea, but a few were vocally offended by it. Do you think there is something more that could be done in the future to avoid the negative reactions?

I used to work in Bridal Registries and my experience was that guests preferred shopping for beautiful items for the people they love. It was part of the wedding experience, and did not necessarily like to give cash because it seemed cold.
Most of the brides were up on this so chose things they really enjoyed to put on the registry. It was part of wedding etiquette and a lot of times steeped in tradition. A lot of people consider weddings traditional occasions and like the customs that go along with it. I think I would have to agree with it.

I'm working on a blog regarding monitary bridal registries. I think they are great and so have some of the brides I work with...problem is... some wedding guests are actually vocally offended by them! Is anyone out there having this same experience? I'd love to hear what your brides are saying..if anything
