With National Entrepreneur Week being Feb 20th - 27th, what caused you to become a business owner?

On February 20 - 27, 2010, the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education sponsors the 4th annual National Entrepreneurship Week, a celebration of the heritage of entrepreneurship in America and new opportunities for a NEW GENERATION!

I'm curious what started you down your path of entrepreneurship? Was it to provide a better product or service - or to make more money for yourself and family? Maybe to break away from Corporate America, and be your own boss (BYOB)!

Let us know! I'm anxious to hear your responses!

For those interested, Marketing 2 Women is celebrating National Entrepreneur Week with a series of virtual mixers showcasing women-owned companies.

I have known for a long time that I was destined to be an entrepreneur, I just wasn't sure what I would be doing or how I would do it. When I planned my first event years ago, I knew instantly it was my calling. It was something that I absolutely loved and would do even if I couldn't getting paid for it. I could not say the same about my regular 9-5 job. The idea of sitting inside of a cubicle staring at a computer all day for the rest of my life just doesn't appeal to me. As an entrepreneur, I don't feel so confined, and I am challenged everyday to learn more about my craft, and come up with new and creative ideas so that my business will grow.

I love the challenge of starting a business from scratch and building it up. I also love being in control of my destiny. Of course being an enterpreneur has its ups and downs but I feel more confident and happier as a person when I am my own boss.

This is actually my second career. I decided I wanted to offer brides a place to get help with their wedding planning plus have somewhere to get a gown and accessories at a great price. I opened my Wedding Planning and Bridal Consignment store in July of last year. I love what I do and I am learing alot!
