Good morning. This may have been discussed before, not sure. In my household there are 2 different wedding vendors (planner/me and photographer). We both are experiencing the same thing & he has 20 some years in the business. We get leads from the various sites & what we are finding is if we do our contact via email, typically we are ignored. Both have researched and adjusted to do our best to avoid the spam filters. If we call the leads for our initial or second attempt to contact them, the reaction is almost like we are telemarketers. I have even had them get upset with me and act like how did you get my information.
Being some what new to this industry, but not business I am a bit surprised. If a couple takes the time to request vendors I would think they would repsond. Now you could say that possibly it is the approach, but I am about as unassuming as they come (maybe that is my problem) and have done a lot of research and taken guidance from industry experts. We are not talking one or two couples/brides who may have decided on someone else. I'd say over the past 10 months, possibly 200+ leads more that 90% are one way communication.
Once we can make an inital contact with them things are great, but it is that initial contact and approach.
