How to pick the best wedding planner in Maui?

We're getting married in Maui. How you do go about choosing the best wedding planner for our buck if there are so many to choose from! When I google "Maui Wedding Planner", I get so many return hits. We'd like someone that has great communication, is flexible, and has high standards and the best advice in terms of quality, food, location, etc.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure if you still need this matter answered, but as a Destination Wedding Specialist I have wedding planners I use for my couples planning their destination wedding in Maui. Once we have made the initial arrangements (settled in dates and venues) then I contact them to see if they have the dates available. I will have all the information you need about wedding venues, officiants, photographers, etc. send to you so you can decide on everything you need.

I agree with Adrienne. It's important to work with a destination wedding planner that you know and trust. A good planner will know how to find a contact in the area of your wedding if they don't already have one. I work a little different since I am actually a wedding planner and not a travel agent. If a client isn't local then I keep in touch with them via video Skype and telephone. Even when I do have another planner working on the ground for my client I always suggest we make 2 visits before the wedding. One at the very minimum. One is to meet with vendors and scout out possible locations, the next is to make sure all is running smoothly and determine if adjustments need to be made. If you can find a local planner then great, if not then hire a destination wedding planner anywhere that you trust and they will help you set up all the logistics.
